Place Anchor Project

The Place Anchor Project aims to strengthen the social fabric of NPT’s communities and encourage a sense of local pride and belonging, through investment.

This project consists of four strands:

    • Place Marketing Campaign: Raising the profile of Neath Port Talbot as a year-round visitor destination through a targeted destination marketing promotion, and seeking to change perceptions of NPT as a place to visit, work and live via a ‘Pride of Place’ marketing promotion. Both promotions will make use of the Neath Port Talbot place branding, which we developed in 2020 to challenge and change perceptions of the region
    • Heritage, Culture & Tourism Fund: Delivering the heritage, culture and tourism priorities set out within Neath Port Talbot Council’s ‘Recover, Reset, Renew’ Corporate Plan 2022-2027. We would like to work with interested public, private and voluntary sector partners to support projects that demonstrate alignment with the council’s priorities. Activities that would be eligible for funding are likely to include (but not be limited to) historically significant conservation and restoration projects, upgrading visitor accessibility of sites, marketing of specific sites of heritage and cultural interest and the organisation of small- and large-scale heritage and cultural events
    • Aberavon Seafront Masterplan: Providing a clear strategy for further investment decisions and the continued development of the seafront, which takes into account a set of priorities developed to secure the area’s long-term future
    • Valley Industrial Units: Addressing the shortage of appropriate commercial accommodation for start-ups and fledgling businesses in the region by constructing 14 new business units in 3 designated locations.

    We believe that these four strands will impact positively on NPT’s strategic priorities of job creation, improved health and wellbeing, pride of place and economic growth.

    We’ve allocated £6.4 million to the Place Anchor Project and funding will be divided across the four strands:
