Through our Shared Prosperity Fund, so far, we’ve allocated £2.5 million in grants to support businesses across Neath Port Talbot. This has had a positive impact on local businesses and the local communities they serve.

In total, through Shared Prosperity Fund support, 343 potential jobs have been created, and a further 386 potential jobs safeguarded. What’s more, by enabling business support for a range of companies from across sectors, local supply chains have been strengthened. Stronger local supply chains help to keep more spend in the local economy.

From the Skills Academy, JES is helping individuals to develop welding and fabrication skills so they can participate in high-skilled engineering pathways.
With this investment, JES Group can better support the Neath Port Talbot community, offering training, upskilling opportunities, and enabling accessibility into engineering careers. With local projects such as the Celtic Freeport and the drive for net zero demanding high-skilled engineering roles, JES is helping to ensure the future of engineering and manufacturing in Neath Port Talbot.

With support from our Shared Prosperity Fund, Margam based precision instrumentation design and manufacturer, British Rototherm, invested in robotics and specialist testing equipment. This has enabled British Rototherm to increase its capacity, quality and upskill its employees.
With this investment, British Rototherm can better serve local and global supply chains. The next step for the company is to invest in its sustainability plan with the ambition to source 100% of its energy from renewable sources.
