Supply Chain Transition Flexible Fund
Supply chain businesses impacted by Tata Steel UK’s transition to electric arc steelmaking at Port Talbot will be able to seek funding to overcome short term challenges during the transition phase, as well as helping businesses refocus in preparation for new growth opportunities.
Business Wales is inviting businesses in the Tata Steel UK supply chain to assess their eligibility for support through the Supply Chain Transition Flexible Fund as part of an overall £80 million support fund provided by UK Government through the cross-government transition board. Businesses will be able to register their interest to discuss their needs with Business Wales, through an eligibility checker. Eligible businesses will then receive a comprehensive diagnostic ahead of being invited to apply for financial assistance.
You can use this tool to check your eligibility for the funding:
Employment and Skills Flexible Fund
If you live in Wales and have recently been made redundant from Tata Steel UK, a company within its supply chain, or other associated contractors you can access grant funding to help you secure future employment.
The Employment and Skills Flexible Fund has been set up by the Tata Transition Board to support people in Wales directly or indirectly affected by Tata Steel UK’s current transformation programme.
If you are eligible, the grants for individuals can help you cover costs such as:
- training costs
- exam fees
- work related certificates and licences
- tools and equipment
- public liability insurance for self-employment
The above is not a full list of examples, other support costs will be considered for funding on an individual basis.
How can I access the funding?
Please email jobsupport@npt.gov.uk to arrange to meet with one of our NPT Employability mentors to check your eligibility.
Or you can call in to either the NPT Employability drop-in centres or the new Community Support Centre in Aberafan Shopping Centre.
If you live elsewhere in Wales:
Please contact your local employability service.
Or if you are working in Port Talbot but live elsewhere you can also call into the above drop-in locations to speak to one of our advisors face-to-face.
