Neath Port Talbot Council considers investment in new business start-ups, the development of existing businesses and the attraction of inward investors as critical to supporting local communities and the economy.
If you’re looking to start a business, or grow your existing business, you may be eligible for funding. Current grant funding available through the UKSPF and the guidelines for applicants are listed below. Please register your interest using the form at the bottom of this page.
Business Investment Grant

Up to £10,000 towards eligible costs, match funded as follows:
Project expenditure between £500 – £10,000 – 70% funded via the grant with applicants funding the other 30%.
The level of grant awarded is calculated on the basis of the following:
- Percentage of the eligible costs (net of VAT), and
- The number of jobs created and/or safeguarded by the project as follows:
- £5,000 per full-time @ 30+ hours per week
- £2,500 per part-time job of 16-29 hours per week.
Business Start-up Grant

Up to £10,000 towards eligible start-up costs, match funded as follows:
Project expenditure between £500 – £10,000 – 70% funded via the grant with applicants funding the other 30%.
The level of grant awarded is calculated on the basis of the following:
- Percentage of the eligible costs (inclusive of VAT), and
- The number of jobs created and/or safeguarded by the project as follows:
- £5,000 per full-time @ 30+ hours per week
- £2,500 per part-time job of 16-29 hours per week.
Local Business Priority Fund 2 (LBPF2)

Minimum Grant Award: Up to 70% of costs, not below £25,000.
Maximum grant award: Up to 70% of costs, not exceeding £100,000.
This grant is now closed for expressions of interest.
All grant awards are discretionary and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
These projects are funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
