Hyppo Hydrogen Solutions Limited is an emerging clean‑energy business dedicated to accelerating the hydrogen and renewables economy across South Wales. The company provides hydrogen storage, remote power solutions, and specialist hydrogen transport services. The company is building the utilisation layer of the hydrogen value chain, ensuring there is enough demand to make the investment case for hydrogen infrastructure.
Over the last 12 to 18 months, Hyppo has successfully delivered prototype refuelling systems, run hydrogen‑powered transport services for major public events such as the Swansea Airshow and The Royal Welsh Show, and launched H2Bay, a hydrogen innovation ecosystem based at Bay Studios in Neath Port Talbot.
The company applied for support from the Tata Growth Fund to purchase and install a 175-kW green hydrogen electrolyser, along with associated infrastructure including water filtration system, power and communications cabling, pipework, mechanical and electrical and site works.
The project at H2Bay, Bay Studios, Neath Port Talbot will help position the site as a regional renewable energy hub capable of producing up to 65 kg of hydrogen per day from captured rain water- enough to support approximately 2 million kilometres of hydrogen‑powered car use per year and contribute to a reduction of up to 350 tonnes of CO₂ annually.
The investment will enable the company to supply competitively priced green hydrogen for transport applications, accelerate the commercialisation of remote power generators and modular hydrogen systems, and establish a demonstrator hydrogen hub to support research, innovation and skills development across Neath Port Talbot.
The project is expected to create 11 new jobs and safeguard 2 existing positions. The company will also be looking to recruit former Tata Steel workers, particularly those with experience in gas handling, engineering, electrical systems, logistics and safety.
“This investment will also help us create high‑quality jobs for former Tata Steel workers and attract further private‑sector investment into the region. We are committed to building a cleaner, more sustainable energy future for Neath Port Talbot, and this funding plays a crucial role in making that ambition a reality.”
