Fabian Way Drainage Works with Ian Davies Ltd.

Social value refers to the benefits created for people, communities and the environment, such as improving well-being, supporting local businesses, creating jobs or protecting the environment.
We were proud to work in partnership with Ian Davies Ltd and share the social value delivered on the project around the drainage works along Fabian Way in Neath Port Talbot.
These works were being delivered with support from The Welsh Government’s Resilient Road Fund (RRF) to address persistent flooding issues that regularly affect the eastbound carriageway, cycle path and laybys during periods of heavy rainfall.

Jobs & Skills
- Delivered 42 weeks of targeted recruitment and training, this included 2 x work experience opportunities and employment of a new admin support person
Supporting Local Business
75% of contracts awarded through this project were Wales-based SMEs
Inspiring the Next Generation
Team members at Ian Davies supported 3 hours of worth of STEM engagement at YGG Rhosafan.
Caring for Our Community & Environment
Seven Sisters Community Centre were delighted to receive a shipping container from Ian Davies Ltd, this is now being used to store their tools and gardening equipment used when supporting their various community groups at the venue.
Throughout the period of the project Ian Davies also donated wood to a community initiative called B-Spoked based in Skewen.
And lastly a kind donation of £500 was given towards sports kit Ysgol Gynradd Creunant Primary School.
A shining example of how infrastructure can uplift and empower communities.
